The Theatre Royal is seeking polite, friendly staff to greet and seat customers at its performances. Successful candidates will be required to work evenings. Experience in sales, bar work or in a similar role is desirable but not necessary and on the job training will be provided.

Front of House Staff Job Description

Main Purpose of Post

Front of House staff are responsible for welcoming patrons as they arrive in the theatre and assisting them as needed.  They will monitor the comfort and safety of patrons and staff, while ensuring that the theatre experience is a pleasant one.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Front of House Services Director, Front of House Staff will work as part of the Front of House team;

 

·           To greet and acknowledge customers in a friendly and welcoming manner.

·           To take tickets and where necessary, to escort customers to their seats.

·           To answer customers questions regarding the theatre and events.

·           To deal effectively with customers enquiries and complaints.

·           To be aware of the needs of customers with disabilities of all kinds and to ensure that those needs are dealt with tactfully.

·           To serve patron from the Theatre Bar/Kiosk during the interval.

·           To be pro-active on behalf of the theatre in the areas of customer care and Front of House sales.

·           To be helpful and friendly at all times, overseeing the general safety, welfare and behavior of the public, reporting to the Front of House Services Director any immediate concerns.

·           To ensure that the Front of House areas are tidy and presentable and to assist with any other duties as may be deemed applicable to the Front of House function.

Skills and Attributes

·           Ability to communicate effectively with members of the public and staff.

·           Punctuality and reliability.

·           Ability to assist in the implementation of the theatre’s rules quickly and effectively.

·           Ability to deal discretely and sensitively with disruptive or dissatisfied patrons.

·           Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks.

·           Experience in sales or bar service would be a benefit to FOH Assistants but not a necessity.

Hours Required

·           The theatre operates on a Monday to Sunday basis

·           Hours/Days will be offered to staff based on their own availability

·           Typical FOH start time will be 19:15 and will generally be for 3.5 hours

·           Call times and shift duration will vary to suit scheduled performances.
