Eoin Colfer’s My Real Life (2016 & 2017)
My Real Life by Eoin Colfer
Summer 2016 & January 2017
Wexford man Noel has advanced MS and decides to end it all. While waiting for his overdose to take effect he records an increasingly rambling message for his best friend, which is to serve as his last will and testament but also as the bones of a speech to be read out at his post funeral party. Noel has apologies to make and messages to send. He has regrets to share and memories to rake over. He has love in his heart and he wants to declare it even if it’s already too late. Noel spends what is possibly the last hour of his life re-living the highs and lows of the past forty years, in an attempt to convince himself and others that he is doing the right thing. And surprisingly perhaps, it’s not all doom and gloom.
My Real Life is performed by Don Wycherley (best known credits in brackets including current Sing Street) and directed by Theatre Royal Artistic Director Ben Barnes.
