    We had a huge response to our recent ‘Creative Shoots’ artist bursary scheme, it was so incredibly encouraging to be reminded of the volume and standard of creative work happening in the area in these most difficult of times for the arts sector.After much consideration – and some difficult decisions given the high quality of the applications – we are pleased to announce our three successful applicants: dancer Bonnie Boux, musician Robert Baker and playwright, theatre practitioner and spoken word poet Hannah Carberry.

    THEATRE ROYAL TO CO-HOST GOMA’S ‘2021 EMERGING CURATOR’

    Theatre Royal’s beautiful 18th century vestibule will be the setting for an exciting new collaborative exhibition with GOMA Gallery of Modern Art Waterford later this year. GOMA’s ‘2021 Emerging Curator Award’, which is open for applications until 15th March, is designed to provide a platform for Emerging Curators to research and engage.

    BUSKAID 2020 MOVES INDOORS AT THEATRE ROYAL WATERFORD

    BuskAid, Ireland's ‘Busk For Charity’ initiative in aid of homeless charities, was forced to move indoors and online this year due to public health concerns around people gathering on the streets to listen to live music.The Waterford-based artists-led festival, which has raised nearly €22,000 since 2016 through live music and volunteering, will instead bring audiences a series of live stream gigs from Theatre Royal and other locations around the city this Christmas, with all proceeds going directly to the local branch of Tintean Housing Association.
