The Waterford News & Star Green Room Awards 2020
CELEBRATING WATERFORD THEATRE & ARTS
In association with the Waterford News & Star
Pat McEvoy, arts correspondent with the Waterford News & Star, has been taking his seat in theatres and auditoriums across Waterford for the past 12 months, critiquing and supporting the work of the Déise’s amateur and professional performers. This February, the Waterford News & Star takes Pat’s annual Green Room Awards from the page to the stage during a special inaugural night in the people’s theatre. This event will feature a spectacular variety show by the crème de la crème of Waterford talent as we honour those who make it not just alright on the night but send us home with soaring hearts and memories to treasure.
Nominees for the Green Room Awards will be revealed in the Waterford News & Star in January.
Last year’s Waterford News & Star Green Room Awards: “IT was another bumper year for the arts in Waterford with new writings, new plays, fascinating exhibitions, sell-out concerts and huge musicals drawing large attendances. Add in a myriad of festivals and you get an inkling of a crammed calendar of creative collective artistic work that is hardly replicated anywhere else in the country.”
“There is really no substitute for a live performance. It isn’t always good; but when it is, it’s magical” – Pat McEvoy
The Waterford News & Star are delighted to announce a bursary of up to €1,000 for a person or persons involved in the arts/theatre. The bursary forms part of the Waterford News & Star Green Room Awards 2020, which will take place in the Theatre Royal on February 2, 2020, celebrating the diversity, scale and quality of Waterford’s theatre and arts scene – both professional and amateur.
