Theatre Royal has it all going on this Spring!

If it is more culture you are after for 2020 then you can look forward to  3 Hail Mary’s By Tony Marren (30th & 31st Jan) , this play is set in a Nursing Home in Ireland. Rehearsed reading of Still We Sing (12th Feb) Written by Martina Collender, Directed by Jim Nolan Take Off Your Cornflakes (27th Feb) is a portrait of a marriage, and yet a love story!, Queen of Technicolor, The Story of Maureen O’Hara (25th March), Fisamble The New Play Company presents: BEFORE Written & Performed by Pat Kinevane (28th March). Eoin Colfer is back with Holy Mary (30th May).

Music lovers are spoilt for choice this year with Tommy Flemming (17th Jan), Jack Lukeman (18th Jan), Mike Denver in Concert with special guest Brendan Shine (23rd Jan), Foster & Allen Timeless Memories Tour (25th Jan), Mick Flannery (14th Feb) our of Ireland, Eddie Reader (15th Feb) Kieran Goss & Annie Kinsella (28th Feb).

Horslips (18th March) on their return to live giggling ‘the band that defined a generation’.  ASLAN (27th March) are back with what promises to be an electrifying performance! Scullion (10th April) the coming together of different musical strands and traditions, their music is powerful, poetic and soulful.  An Evening with Paul Brady (24th April) one of Irelands finest singer songwriters.  We are thrilled to announce TOUCAN are returning (9th May), the explosive ten-piece funk-pop band blasting out a blend of feel-good, contagiously funky hits.

The season would not be complete without some comedy, keep an eye out for Pat Shortt – HEY! Our Music Tributes – there is something for everyone!  The Legend of Luke Kelly (1st Feb), The Glen Campbell Story – Gentle On My Mind (6th March).  The Music Of The Drifters Lives On (22nd March).  Take It To The Limit - A Celebration Of The Eagles (2nd April), Rebecca O’Connor is Simply The Best As Tina Turner (8th May), back by overwhelming demand.  Tonight’s The Night – The Ultimate Rod Stewart Tribute (16th May)

Another great addition to the season for our traditional music audience is Paddy Keenan, Frankie Gavin, Dermot Byrne (21st Feb) 

For something classical why not try A Viennese Strauss Gala (6th Feb) back again by popular demand, from the producers of Mozart by Candlelight and Baroque by Candlelight or Pat Coldrick (22nd Feb) an Irish classical guitarist and composer who has been described as ‘pushing the boundaries of classical guitar’.

Centre Stage School of Ballet & Performing Arts presents COPPELIA (20th Feb).  Sleeping Beauty by Royal Moscow Ballet (29 Feb).  Waterford Ballet Academy presents Mary Pops In (31st May).

Waterford loves musicals and we have lots of them! David Hennessy Musical & Dramatic Society presents The Full Monty – The Stage Musical (10th - 14th March), The Mount Sion Choir Musical (21st March).  Friends The Musical Parody (22nd & 23rd April) an hilarious good-hearted romp through our favourite moments from the hit TV show in an uncensored, hilarious, fast-paced, music-filled production.  Waterford Musical Society presents My Fair Lady (28th April – 2nd May).  Who Dares To Dream – A spectacular new Musical/Drama written by Michael English and Tommy Marren (14th & 15th May).

Families can look forward to BOSCO’s Magical Garden and Sleeping Beauty by Paula Lambert Puppet Theatre (Sun 16th Feb), Baby Shark Show featuring The Little Mermaid (Sun 15th March), Teddys Sports Day (Sunday 19th April).

Our very popular Sunday afternoon concert series continues this season with Who’s Sorry Now?  The Story of Connie Francis (& Bobby Darin) (9th Feb). Secret Love - The Story of Doris Day (10th May). With the words projected on a giant screen, you’ll have no excuses not to sing! Tea/coffee & Cakes on sale before and during the interval.
The Waterford News & Star Green Room Awards 2020 (2nd Feb) – Celebrating Waterford Theatre & Arts.  This event will feature a spectacular variety show by the crème de la crème of Waterford talent honouring those who make it not just alright on the night but send us home with soaring hearts and memories to treasure.  Nominees for the Green Room Awards will be revealed in the Waterford News & Star in January.
Backstage @ The Royal Propeller Palms (5th March). This cool venue provides musicians with the opportunity to perform to peers, fans and a music loving audience while being supported by an experienced technical team in the heart of the Viking Triangle.

Following on from the hugely successful event in 2019 Dance of Life returns to the Theatre Royal in March again this year.  

The nation’s favourite Psychic and forerunner in the Psychic world Psychic Sally returns with her all news show 10 Years & Counting (3rd April).
