While following strict health and safety & COVID-19 guidelines, Theatre Royal Waterford has re-opened its doors.  The theatre team has worked relentlessly over the past number of weeks to ensure the safety of its team, performers, technicians, and patrons to guarantee a safe and comfortable experience when in attendance from Wednesday 12th August.

Since re-opening the box office on 28th July last the theatre now looks forward to staging live events this summer.  With the highest standards of care and preparation the team is ready to welcome artists and patrons alike back to the region’s premier theatre venue.

With a diverse mix of theatre, comedy, and music the theatre will stage AWARD WINNING Pat Kinevanes Before on Wednesday 12th & Thursday 13th August.  The Theatre Royal is delighted to be working with one of Irelands finest companies, Fishamble, the new play company.  Pat’s world class performances will give both venue and company the opportunity to do what it does best – PRESENT LIVE THEATRE! This inaugural performance will allow Pat the opportunity to perform live once again.  August 12th will be Pats first time back to live stage since his performance at the Blackwater Festival in February of this year, he will have been 6 months off stage and the Theatre Royal team can think of no one better person and company to re-open the venue.

Following Pats performances, the theatre will also host Norma Sheahan with her live stand up show on Friday 14th August followed then by Colm O’Regan and Rob Strong later in the month.

The Theatre Royal acknowledges the support provided by its funders The Arts Council and Waterford City & County Council of which the work would not be possible.  And equally the extraordinary support afforded by the theatre’s patrons over the past number of weeks which has enabled the theatre re-open its doors.

The Theatre Royal team is looking forward to welcoming you back.
